Visit the many boutique stores, outlets and antique shops. Southern Maine from Kittery to Freeport is the perfect vacation getaway. Some of Southern Maine’s more popular towns include Old Orchard Beach, Ogunquit, Kennebunkport, Wells and of course the largest city in Maine… Portland!

During the summertime the Southern Maine Coast blossoms with seaside lodgings, and bed and breakfasts, campgrounds, shops and fine dining. Attractions such as the York Wild Animal Park, the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunk, Funtown/Splashtown Amusement Park in Saco, Palace Playland on the beach in Old Orchard Beach, and Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm in Wells are all open to serve you.

Kittery provides a taste of Maine with fresh lobsters caught right off the coast. Route 1 is filled with outlet stores of every kind imaginable. York’s sandy beach, good surf and fantastic scenes fill every summer with visitors from afar. Historic York brings back history. Ogunquit attracts artists as it has for years. Artists’ renditions of the awesome Maine coast leave to adorn living room walls every year.

Enjoy a special moment at Perkins Cove, take a coastal walk along Marginal Way, or relax with an evening of summer stock theatre at the Ogunquit Playhouse. Ogunquit Beach is a peninsula beach with water on three sides and has been rated as one of the top ten beaches in the United States. Wells is filled with antique shops, used and antique book shops, the Wells National Estuarine Reserve at Laudholm Farm and the Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge.

The Kennebunks attract the famous each summer including former President George Bush. The “Port” (Kennebunkport) can only be found in Maine; food and merchandise combine with nature to treat you special. Saco and Biddeford add oceanside haunts and typical Maine downtowns. Old Orchard Beach is filled with oceanside lodgings and attractions including the famous pier.

Southern Maine is an amazing attraction year round… while certainly summer is the most popular time to visit the coast some love the awakening of spring before the summer season when the trees bud their brilliant new green leaves.
